Corey Maggette (1) vs. Mark Jackson (16)

Before Chris Paul, there was Blake Griffin. And before Griffin, there was Corey Maggette. And Mark Jackson, I guess.

Corey Maggette

Maggette is easily one of the most important players in franchise history. From 2000 to 2008, No. 50 played his best ball for the Los Angeles Clippers.

He led the team in scoring for a majority of those years, including a career-high mark of 22.2 points per game during the 2004-2005 season. He was above-average at everything. He participated in a dunk contest, shot around 80% from the stripe, upper 30’s from three. He just did it all, and he did it all really well.

Maggette’s determination was always evident. In 2006, he came back from an injury that sidelined him for four months, and went on to lead the Clippers to victory in 13 of their remaining 19 games and into a historic playoffs run. They ended up falling just short to the Phoenix Suns, but still, Maggette had cemented his legacy.

Mark Jackson

Most of us only know Mark Jackson as a lead commentator on ESPN and former coach of the Golden State Warriors. But before all that, Jackson was a productive point guard that had a 16-year stint in the NBA.

He spent two seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers, playing In 161 of 164 possible games. He averaged 12.7 points, 8.7 assists, and 4.6 rebounds per game. Considering his 6’1″, 180-pound frame, this was quite a feat.
