Eric Piatkowski (5) vs. Eric Gordon (12)
This is it, the one we’ve all been waiting for: a no-holds barred, winner-take-all, battle of the Erics.
Eric Piatkowski
Eric Piatkowski, a.k.a. The Polish Rifle, could shoot himself out of anything. He also spent nine seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers, good for 616 total games. He was as devoted to our fanbase as he was to making opponents weep by splashing triples right in their faces. I like to imagine that the only trash talk he would ever speak was the phrase, “danger close”. And then, boom. Three points.
Piatkowski shot a whopping 46.6% from deep in the 2001-2002 season, connecting on 111/238 overall. He screams upset potential, and he might even have a chance to upset Paul in the Sweet Sixteen.
Eric Gordon
The other Eric, Eric Gordon, is at his peak with the Houston Rockets. Although, I imagine any team that shoots as many threes as they do would be a prime spot for a shooter like Gordon. Speaking of shooters, can you imagine the damage that Piatkowski would cause on that team? Sheesh.
Anyway, Gordon was certainly appreciated during his time in Los Angeles, but that love diminished almost immediately after he was included in the Chris Paul trade (thanks David Stern).
He shot 37.5% from deep with the Clippers, and his personality made him well-liked within the community.
