Needing to add a guard to the roster, the Los Angeles Clippers have gone out and signed guard Sean Kilpatrick to a 10-day contract.
The Los Angeles Clippers made a bit of noise on Sunday afternoon. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, LA has gone out and signed Sean Kilpatrick to a 10-day contract.
Kilpatrick, 28, was recently waived by the Milwaukee Bucks. The former Cincinnati Bearcat appeared in 23 games with the Bucks this season. He averaged four points in nine minutes a game. His shooting numbers are a major concern. On the year, Kilpatrick is shooting 33 percent from the field, and 27 percent from deep.
Kilpatrick has been in the league since 2014. For his career, his averages are 10.1 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists. The best season of his career came in 2016-2017 with the Brooklyn Nets. In 70 games, he averaged 13.1 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.2 assists.
This comes just days after the Clippers were able to reach a deal with Ty Wallace, a fan favorite who has proven he’s more than capable of playing in this league. It appears Wallace is trying to get himself a better deal, which he has every right to do. So, in the meantime, the Clippers are searching for a guard to fill his void.
The name might sound familiar to Clippers fans. Over a year ago, Doc Rivers had an infamous ejection in Brooklyn. Tempers were flaring, and the Clippers ultimately lost a game they should have won. One of the main reasons the Nets walked out with a victory, was because of Sean Kilpatrick.
The guard exploded for 38 points, with 21 coming in the final quarter. LA simply had no answer for him. If this is what the Clippers can expect from Kilpatrick, this can be a very under-the-radar signing.
