Patrick Beverley is still rehabbing his knee injury, but the Los Angeles Clippers guard told us he’s making progress towards a return.

Even before the NBA season began, Patrick Beverley had already cemented himself as one of the league’s hardest workers. Both his game and his history are evidence of that.

So when the 29-year-old point guard went down with a complicated knee injury in November, there was little doubt he’d bounce back quickly.

Throughout the duration of the season, Beverley has shared extensive information about his recovery process. From posting videos of himself working out on Instagram to giving verbal updates about his status, he’s made sure we know just how close he is to getting on the floor again.

He got off crutches in early January, a few months ahead of schedule. Now, he’s participating in more involved workouts. Our own Farbod Esnaashari caught up with Beverley in the locker room prior to tonight’s matchup with the New York Knicks.

"“I’m ahead of schedule,” Beverley said. “I’m on a treadmill, I’ve been doing some single-leg stuff, step-ups today, defensive slides, and I was squatting today. Next month I start jumping, and we’ll see how it goes from there.”"

Although there is no definite timetable, Beverley could make a return in the playoffs if the Clippers make a run. However, it seems doubtful that he returns during the regular season.

Beverley has played in 11 games this season, averaging 12.2 points, 2.9 assists, and 1.7 steals. He’s always been known for his tenacity on the defensive end, which he showed in the Clippers’ early-season matchup with the Los Angeles Lakers. Beverley held Lakers Rookie Lonzo Ball to just 3 points on 1-6 shooting, setting the tone for the rest of the night.

Despite being hurt, Beverley has held onto his role as a leader of the team.
