Defense Grade: B
While Wes is a liability on offense, he has a defensive rating of 106 and he continues to do well on the defensive end. His help defense has provided some highlights for the Clipper fans to look twice and make sure it was Wes. He is a hound on the defensive end and if he could do well in the playoffs it will help with his exposure to the casual fan who waits until the playoffs to watch all the games.
Wesley Johnson is not having his best Clipper, season but compared to last year overall he is playing with more confidence. Wes earns his money on the defensive end and he is averaging 1.8 steals per game, which is just shy of a career high of 1.9 per game set two seasons ago. He is also averaging a career high 1.6 blocks per game.
Wesley Johnson is a nice rotation piece and if he remains that, his defense will be his calling card. At 30, he looks spry as ever and ready to take a ball out of the air.
