With the All-Star break behind us, we give mid-season grades to the Los Angeles Clippers’ players. Next up is DeAndre Jordan.
DeAndre Jordan, the longest-tenured Clipper of all-time, is still making things happen at Staples Center. How much longer he continues to do that is in question.
I got a real scare earlier this month when reading trade rumors, to the point where I felt like Jordan’s departure was inevitable. His name was popping up everywhere, and it seemed that everyone wanted a little piece of him.
Now here we are, a few weeks gone by, and Jordan is still wearing his Clippers uniform. Blake Griffin, on the other hand, is not.
That’s still difficult for me to wrap my head around, honestly. Griffin was the Clippers. And while they say that all good things must come to an end, I assumed that “end” would be when Griffin retired, and his number was raised into the rafters. I certainly never expected that he’d be traded to Detroit.
But in all the chaos, we’ve seemed to forget just how good Jordan is. He’s still just as tenacious as he was before. He’s still consistent from the field, more so than almost every other active player. And of all things, Jordan’s free throw numbers are the best they’ve ever been. He’s been very good, especially offensively.
Let me tell you how good.
