DeAndre Jordan showed no love in the Los Angeles Clippers’ Valentine’s day victory against the Boston Celtics, scoring a career-high 30 points.

There was no trick to DeAndre Jordan’s big game, the Celtics just simply forgot about him over and over. The Los Angeles Clippers’ center’s defenders helped when they should have stayed on DJ, leaving him open for inside passes and easy finishes. Jordan finished the night going 11/14 from the field and 8/9 from the free throw line in 32 minutes. He also racked up 13 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals.

While the Celtics’ faulty defense was to blame for many of Jordan’s buckets, his 30-point game wouldn’t have been possible if he wasn’t constantly in the right spot, ready and able to finish plays. Tobias Harris (21 points) Danilo Gallinari (20) and Lou Williams (19) made it possible for DJ to go off by concerning the Celtics defense with their scoring ability.

Let’s not forget that basketball is a team sport, making a victory more important than an individual’s accomplishments. One thing that made Jordan’s 30 points more praise-worthy was that the team left with the victory against the Eastern conference’s second seed team. The final score read 129 to 119. The game was a battle with 16 lead changes and Kyrie Irving ending the game with 33 points, but the Clippers left Boston with the important win under their belt before All-Star break.

DeAndre Jordan’s future with the Clippers is unknown, but lines such as the one he posted against the Celtics make a compelling argument for the team to keep him at any cost. He has come a long way in his career, and all season long he has proved that he does not need Chris Paul to assist him.
