Ranking all 26 starting units the Los Angeles Clippers have used this year
No. 4
Beverley, Gallinari, Griffin, Jordan, Teodosic (53.7, 2-0)
Oh, what could’ve been.
The lineup the Clippers used to start the season had us all filled with hope and dreams of another season of success. The backcourt combination of Beverley and Teodosic sounded promising, and adding starting Gallinari at the 3 was certainly an upgrade over Luc Mbah a Moute.
For a while, our hopes were justified. LA came out in its first two games and flattened the opposition, winning by an average margin of 29 points.
The starters were flawless together. Beverley and Jordan worked together on defense with ease, and Teodosic’s passing coupled with Griffin’s ability around the rim looked lethal.
But, as is the norm for the LA Clippers, the injuries set in far too soon. Teodosic went down in his second game, Gallinari got hurt after the first nine, and Beverley would eventually require knee surgery.
For a while there, though, those once lofty dreams appeared to be within reach.
