As teams scramble to make moves to bolster their rosters for the postseason, the Boston Celtics are rumored to be pursuing the Los Angeles Clippers’ Lou Williams, per Marc Stein.

The Celtics are asking for a first-round pick for Marcus Smart in hopes of flipping that pick to the Clippers for Lou Williams, or for the Grizzlies’ Tyreke Evans.

Williams is averaging 23.3 points off the bench this season with the Clippers. The Celtics are hoping to add the professional scorer to their bench in hopes of dethroning Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers from their Eastern Conference dominance.

Doc Rivers has been very open and honest regarding the team’s willingness to hear offers for Williams. With his talent on full display this season, teams are willing to oblige to the Clippers’ demands.

This year’s injuries have given Williams the chance to show off his skill set and even present him as a viable candidate for the All-Star Game. Off the bench, he has been able to provide consistent scoring for a team that had nowhere else to look and has kept them in the playoff mix.

The Clippers have been on the hunt for draft picks, as made clear by their decision to move Blake Griffin. This years draft class is widely seen as one of the most talent-filled classes in quite some time. With the Clippers seemingly looking towards the future, now would be the time to stock up on picks and have Jerry West architect the next look for this team.
