The LA Clippers may reach a deal to send DeAndre Jordan elsewhere very soon, but many fans are holding out hope that he isn’t traded.

DeAndre Jordan, All-NBA Center for the LA Clippers, will most likely be moved before the trade deadline. His name has come up in trade rumors throughout the duration of the season, so it’s fair to say that the trade wouldn’t be as surprising as the Blake Griffin trade was. However, a lot of Clippers fans would be crushed if the team shipped Jordan out of Los Angeles.

Jordan has recently become the team’s all-time leader in games played, a record he achieved in January. He passed the late franchise-leader Randy Smith when he played his 716th game. Because of this, many people view Jordan as a so-called “Clipper for life”.

The All-Star center has gone on record as saying that he hopes he finishes his career with the Clippers, but didn’t make a statement regarding his time in between then and now.

In today’s NBA, hopes should be slim. Jordan is likely on his way out, and the Griffin deal showed us that this is a business. However, that’s not stopping some fans from doing everything in their power to keep Jordan in a Clipper uniform.

Artist Anton Tonchev (@BenchOnaQuest on Twitter) has created a petition and poster aimed at keeping Jordan in LA. Tonchev has high hopes that Jordan will remain a Clipper beyond the trade deadline.

“Desperate times require desperate measures,” Tonchev said. “Jordan is a valuable asset and I feel we should rebuild with him rather than trade him.”

Jordan’s contract will expire at season’s end, assuming he doesn’t pick up his player option. The Clippers will have to offer him max money to retain him, but because of his skill and loyalty, it’s worth wondering if the organization should do their best to keep DJ in LA.
