The Los Angeles Clippers traded away superstar Blake Griffin in a shocking turn of events on Monday to the Detroit Pistons. It hurt fans immensely, but once the emotional dust settles, it might just help them.

Let’s get one thing clear before we start: Blake Griffin is the greatest Clipper of all time. Someone like Chris Paul might actually be a better play according to advanced stats, but Blake was a C L I P P E R. He was drafted by the team, he stuck with the team, he embodied all of it. He deserves to have his jersey in the rafters and the love of Clipper Nation forever. As a rookie he brought excitement and relevancy to the team. As a seasoned player his evolution showed his commitment to excellence and the longevity of his career as well as the franchise.

With all the above stated, fans and analysts are deeming this move “the same old Clippers”. Historically the Clippers have made horrible decisions to trade away talent for nothing or bad contracts. On the surface, sure, this brings back some shell shock from those days. But a deeper look tells a different story.
