Goodbye
I can go on and on about everything that you have done for this team year by year. Nine years, and eight truly remarkable seasons. Each season you gave us unforgettable moments, unforgettable dunks, and unforgettable laughs. You came here as a young 20-year-old, one that Clipper nation was eager to learn about. None of us knew much about you, or what you would do for this franchise. You leave with your mark made. A mark that nobody will ever forget. In Clippers history, you finish top five in points, rebounds, assists, and minutes played. Your first play of your career was a lob, and your final play was knocking down a dagger-three. Truly showing how much your game has evolved over the years.
You officially have said your goodbye. It’s over. It’s time to move on. For the first time since 2009, we have to get used to life without you on our team. It won’t be easy. You truly are one of the all-time greats to put on a Clippers uniform. Somehow, someway, we will all get through this. Your career will continue in Detroit, and we will continue to support our team here in Los Angeles. You’re leaving the team far better than it was when you came here. As the great Dr. Seuss once said, “Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened.” So, on behalf of the entire Clipper nation, we have one final thing we’d like to say, Blake.
Thank you.
