LOS ANGELES, CA - DECEMBER 6: Danilo Gallinari

Danilo Gallinari will be active tonight for the Los Angeles Clippers as they face the Portland Trailblazers.

Danilo Gallinari will be available tonight for the Los Angeles Clippers, as first reported by Brad Turner of the LA Times. This will be Gallo’s first game back after missing 25 games due to a left glute injury. There were rumors that he would become available after his injury status changed to questionable, but now we officially have the good news.

With the surprise trade of Blake Griffin yesterday, Gallinari’s return is a welcome one. The 6’10 Italian can slot in at both forward positions and will give the Clippers scoring, rebounding and playmaking that will be missed with Griffin’s departure.

With Tobias Harris most likely not available tonight, it seems plausible that Gallinari, alongside Wes Johnson will get a majority of the power forward minutes, while Montrezl Harrell will have to play the backup big to DeAndre Jordan.

Through his 11 games with the LA Clippers this season, Gallinari has averaged 13.4 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists on 34.5% shooting. With injuries from preseason lingering, we never got to see a fully healthy Gallinari. Hopefully tonight will change that.

Although the Clippers’ roster as of today likely won’t be what we finish the season with, there have been little to no rumors that Gallinari won’t finish the year with the team. He was sign and traded to the Clippers in the offseason as ancillary part of the Chris Paul departure.

Keep checking back here for any updates regarding the Clippers’ roster as we follow them into the unknown.
