Los Angeles Clippers’ Danilo Gallinari questionable against Portland
The Los Angeles Clippers’ Danilo Gallinari is listed as questionable for Tuesday’s game against the Portland Trailblazers.
Danilo Gallinari remains questionable (glute injury) for the matchup against the Portland Trailblazers at Staples per Brad Turner of the LA Times. Gallo would’ve been a welcomed sight to a team that’s looking to get healthy for a playoff push, however, the Clippers have another roster change to worry about that will interfere with any playoff hopes they previously had.
Blake Griffin’s trade to the Pistons means the Clippers offense will need a new PF to go through. Gallo has been used as a SF throughout his career but is no stranger to the recently vacated position.
Danilo Gallinari, The Power Forward
In Denver, Gallo had the most success when he was at the four, mainly because of his ability in the pick and roll. In the current shift to a small ball league, Danilo used his ball handling skills to help the Nuggets push to a higher pace offense.
The good news? The ball won’t be shared anymore. The offense, in many cases, will revolve what he brings to the table and that’s not such a bad thing. In the second half of the 2016-2017 season, Gallo was 8th in pus-minus just behind Blake Griffin (you can’t make this stuff up).
The bad news? It’s change. This is a team that’s fighting for a playoff spot and is competitive enough to make it.
If Gallo is healthy enough to return against Portland, he will have some big shoes to fill. He’ll have to do so quickly if LA has any chance of remaining in the playoff race.
