After missing the last five games to do an ankle injury, DeAndre Jordan will return to action versus the Boston Celtics.

The wait is over.

Although short, it has felt like years since DeAndre Jordan has suited up for the Clippers. According to Brad Turner of the LA Times, Jordan is set to make his return to the court tonight.

DJ has missed the last five games due to an ankle injury. He injured it in Sacramento, when he landed on it after throwing down a thunderous dunk. This came as something new for Clippers, and for Jordan. In nine years with the Clippers, this was DeAndre’s first time missing games due to an injury. In today’s NBA, that’s truly remarkable. Especially coming from a physically demanding position like center.

Jordan’s absence has been felt. The Clippers did win three of five, but they didn’t come easy. In all the games, LA has struggled to rebound the ball. In four of the five games, the Clips have been out-rebounded.

Game 1

The Clippers got a 21-point victory over the Kings, however, they didn’t win the rebound battle. Sacramento out-rebounded LA 46-45, but more notably 10-5 on the offensive boards.

Game 2

LA earned an impressive win against one of the best teams in the NBA. The Clips did out-rebound Houston 51-48, but fell short 13-4 on the offensive rebounds.

Game 3

The Clips won this game, but it wasn’t easy. They were out-rebounded by seven, and three on the offensive boards.

Game 4

This was where DJ’s presence was missed the most. Utah out-rebounded LA 62-37. Yeah, it wasn’t pretty. LA allowed the Jazz to score 50 points in the paint.

Game 5

Minnesota grabbed only six more boards, but had 10 offensive rebounds. The T’Wolves were able to capitalize for 58 points in the paint.

You get the idea, DeAndre Jordan is valuable. Luckily for the Clippers he returns tonight. There will also be a little bit of history as well.

Welcome back DJ!
