We live in a world where we over-analyze every tweet and make a big deal out of something an athlete says.
So now, we’re going to do just that.
The LA Clippers welcomed the Minnesota Timberwolves to Staples Center on Monday evening. This is an important game for both teams, as major playoff implications are on the line. With a game of such significance and importance, a bigger storyline emerged, even before the game started.
Prior to the game, Ricky Chu sent out a tweet that said the following:
"Asked Blake Griffin for a pic and he ran to the locker room yelling “9 f—–g years!” Like he’s pissed off at something. The team? The fans? Himself?"
Very interesting. Nine years? What exactly does that mean? So much to potentially speculate. Here at Clipperholics, we did our own speculation.
Now right off the bat, this is just speculation. In no way shape or form is DeAndre Jordan getting traded this evening, tomorrow, or anytime in the near future. But, it definitely does draw some questions.
Teams Reportedly Interested in Trading for DeAndre Jordan
With DJ being in the final year of his contract, it makes sense for the Clippers to potentially want to move him. Not willing to risk losing him for nothing, LA ideally would want to test the market, and see what they realistically could get back in a deal for him. Over the course of the last few days, reports have come out of certain teams showing interest.
According to Marc Stein of The New York Times , the Portland Trail Blazers are the latest team to show interest.
This comes days after the Cavaliers and Bucks reportedly showed interest as well.
However, according to Stein, the Clippers have yet to receive an offer from any of these teams, which makes you question whether any of these rumors have any accuracy to them.
This does come at an interesting time, though. Today, the Milwaukee Bucks announced they fired head coach Jason Kidd. With Kidd now out, could the Bucks potentially be getting ready to change things up, as they currently sit at the eighth seed in the eastern conference?
Or, with things going completely wrong in Cleveland, could they be looking for a huge shake-up?
As mentioned earlier, this is nothing but speculation. However, it is still intriguing as to why Blake Griffin screamed “9 f—–g years.” I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
UPDATE:
Phew. Glad it was just some good ole baseless speculation. We’ll hopefully have DJ back for Wednesday night against the Celtics.
