REPORT: DeAndre Jordan wants to be traded to the Houston Rockets
According to a report on Twitter, LA Clippers big man DeAndre Jordan wants to be traded to the rival Houston Rockets.
According to Stephen A. Smith and reported by Clevis Murray, LA Clippers center DeAndre Jordan wants to be traded to the Houston Rockets. This is a wild turn of events, especially since the report came the day after the Clippers and Rockets had a ridiculous post-game feud in LA’s locker room.
Jordan, a Houston native, seems to be one of the only Clipper players that maintained his relationship with Chris Paul. And with the Rockets vying for a title run, this move would make a lot of sense for them. Jordan is averaging 11.8 points and 14.9 rebounds this season, the latter good for second-best in the league. Houston has a formidable center in Clint Capela, but DJ would almost certainly be an upgrade.
The amount of truth to this rumor is unknown. Smith’s credibility is low, and the tweet could’ve very well been a joke in response to last night’s events. That being said, there has been a lot of speculation this season surrounding a Jordan trade. The Cleveland Cavaliers are the reported front-runners, but the Rockets add another dimension to the conversation.
Jordan is set to make $24 million in the final year of his contract, which will expire at the end of next season, assuming he opts in. He recently hired Agent Jeff Schwartz as well, which may further the trade discussions and rumors.
Until this report is confirmed by multiple sources, it shouldn’t garner much attention. However, it likely wouldn’t come as a surprise if the Clippers decide to deal DJ before the deadline. They’ll be in a tough financial spot this offseason if they don’t/can’t flip Jordan.
