Two days after suffering an ankle injury in Sacramento, DeAndre Jordan is listed as inactive for the LA Clippers’ rematch with the Kings.
Say it ain’t so: DeAndre Jordan, the only Clipper who has yet to miss a game this season due to injury, is hurt. It was only a matter of time, since the injury bug is spreading like a virus in their locker room.
Jordan suffered an ankle injury after throwing down a brutal putback slam against the Kings on Thursday. He missed the remainder of the game, and was initially listed as “questionable” for today’s matchup. However, per several reports, Jordan has been downgraded to “out”. Prior to his injury, he was averaging 11.8 points and 14.9 rebounds per game.
The injury didn’t appear to be very serious, and Jordan shouldn’t be sidelined long. Look for Willie Reed and Montrezl Harrell to receive more minutes while DJ sits today.
On Thursday, the Clippers blew a late lead but eventually came back to win, 121-115. The team was led by Harrell and Lou Williams, who combined for 55 points. Jordan recorded 8 points and 7 rebounds before succumbing to his injury.
The Clippers will take on the Kings again today at Staples Center on NBA Jam Day. LA outmatches Sacramento in terms of talent, and Blake Griffin should be more comfortable in the starting rotation today.
We’re also told that Austin Rivers should return to the floor soon, within the coming weeks. He’s been sidelined since Dec. 31 with an achilles injury.
Things are looking up for the Clippers, and once they get all their players back, they’ll be in an excellent position to make a playoff push thanks to the performance of their usual bench players.
Today’s game will tip-off at 12:30 PM PST.
