LA Clippers: Lou Williams OUT vs. Spurs

MIAMI, FL - DECEMBER 16: Lou Williams
MIAMI, FL - DECEMBER 16: Lou Williams

Both Lou Williams and Wesley Johnson will miss tonight’s matchup vs. the San Antonio Spurs.

You can’t make this stuff up.

Earlier in the week, I talked about how a Clippers injury is as common as waking up and having breakfast. It still appears as if that metaphor is true.

Early Monday morning, Brad Turner of the Los Angeles times announced that the Clippers will be without two more players for their matchup with the Spurs.

You’ve got to be kidding me!

Lou Williams, who is averaging a career-high 20 points per game this season, will be missing his first game of the season. In a year that has featured far more downs than ups, Williams was the one “up” that has helped keep the Clippers season a float. It’s still very early in the season, but Sweet Lou has to be the favorite for the Sixth Man of the Year award.

Don’t let the tweet fool ya, Wesley Johnson will be out for the Clippers as well — We think. It’s been another downer of a season for Wes, as he’s averaging only seven points per game, while shooting 41 percent from the floor and an abysmal 28 percent from three.

If there is any sort of silver lining, it appears as if the Clippers will be getting Austin Rivers back.

Rivers, who missed the last few games with a concussion, will be back in the starting lineup tonight. With a bench that will be missing 20 points a game, the Clippers will have to look elsewhere to make up those points. Expect some big minutes from the rookies, as the Clippers look to snap their two-game losing streak.
