2013 NBA Draft

Selections: Reggie Bullock (25th)

Notable players still available: Rudy Gobert (27th), Seth Curry (Undrafted)

And so begins Doc Rivers‘s tenure as head coach/vice president of basketball operations of the LA Clippers. And so begins the era of really, really bad draft selections.

Reggie Bullock is not a great NBA player. But what’s more important than that was that Bullock did not fit with the LA Clippers. He encountered a total logjam at the small forward position, and he was never given a chance to develop. A legitimate small forward was a need at the time, but why Doc thought the answer to that issue laid in Bullock is beyond me.

The Clippers already had Matt Barnes, Jared Dudley, Danny Granger, Antawn Jamison, AND Hedo Turkoglu at the wing. I’m not sure we’ll ever understand why Bullock was the pick here.

What LA really needed was depth at the center position, as they had just two true centers on the roster in Jordan and Byron Mullens.
