Embrace the giving season. Join the LA Clippers’ Sam Dekker and fiancé Olivia Harlan in supporting Children’s Cancer Family Foundation.

Feeling generous this holiday season? Consider donating to Children’s Cancer Family Foundation of Northeast Wisconsin. This charity is near and dear to the LA Clippers’ very own Sam Dekker and his fiancé Olivia Harlan. The two took to Instagram to ask for donations to the charity as part of Giving Tuesday.

Giving Tuesday is the Tuesday following Thanksgiving and Black Friday, during which people can often spend on themselves and family members, but not remember those in need. You can view their video below:

Why is Sam involved?

This is Sam’s 4th year being involved with the charity. Sam is a Wisconsin native and felt a pull to this charity since his grandmother passed away from cancer. In an interview with The Post-Crescent, he mentioned how it was great to see children coming back to CCFF events healthy each year.

"“I love seeing kids come back and being here knowing that they are doing better, it fills my heart to see them smiling and having fun,” Dekker said. “They are tougher than I could ever be.”"

Unfortunately, not all cases end well. One little boy, who Sam became close with, sadly passed away. He was buried in a Sam Dekker Wisconsin jersey. This compelled Sam to stay involved with the charity.

What is CCFF?

Children’s Cancer Family Foundation of Northeast Wiconsin was founded by Sarah-Beth Janssen, Mona Sherwood and Sue Peters. Sarah-Beth had seen the difficulties and financial burdens families she bonded with faced when their children were diagnosed with cancer. Mona and Sue experienced the difficulties firsthand after their own children underwent treatment. In 2016, the trio decided to come together and create CCFF. The goal of the organization is to not only help give financial assistance to families, but to also provide a sense of strength and support with each other.

How to donate

As you can see in Sam’s Instagram post, you can text “CCFF” to 556651 in order to receive information on how to donate. You can also visit the donate section of their web page. Please help make a difference in both these children’s and families’ lives by giving them the financial assistance they need!
