Clippers vs Hawks – Clip their wings

Don’t let Atlanta’s 46-point win over Sacramento distract you from the fact that they are a bad team that owns the East’s second-worst record. They’re carried primarily by their starting wings, Kent Bazemore and Taurean Prince, and have a solid distributor in Dennis Schroder. There’s not much else there for them to work with.

Griffin will flourish in the paint, and Willie Reed is sure to impress against the Hawks’ backup bigs. The most essential key to victory, though, is stopping Prince and Bazemore. The two combine for nearly a quarter of the team’s scoring, and Prince is shooting a scorching 44.1% from beyond the arc. Stopping them will be vital to the Clips’ success.

The Hawks, like many other teams on this road trip, aren’t what most would call a “defensively sound” team. They have the sixth-worst defensive rating in the NBA, and should struggle against LA’s high-powered offensive attack. Look for Rivers and Lou Williams to have big games here.

If there’s one game that Clippers fans shouldn’t be worried about on this road trip, it’s this one. The Hawks simply aren’t capable of competing with playoff teams.
