The rookies can play
Believe it or not, Doc Rivers is finally playing rookies in his rotations. It took a few injuries to force it, sure. But let’s just be grateful that it’s actually happening for now.
What’s better, though, is that our rookies are actually good. Sindarius Thornwell and Jawun Evans were both second round picks this year, and yet, Thornwell started last night. He finished the night with 10 points and a rebound in just 22 minutes of play.
Evans didn’t get much time, just 16 minutes, but his numbers might shock you. He had a team-best +20 plus-minus last night, by far the best on the team. Since Beverley is out again tonight against the Pelicans, maybe it wouldn’t be such a bad idea to let Evans run the offense some more? He’s clearly capable of more.
