Jamil Wilson could play meaningful minutes for the Clips

Currently the LA Clippers’ only two-way contract player, Jamil Wilson played 11 minutes in the Clippers’ preseason debut. The majority of Wilson’s minutes saw the Summer League standout playing as the team’s backup power forward in a stretch-four role. Doc Rivers seems to have confidence in Wilson’s game as he went to the forward before a few other notable new Clippers such as Montrezl Harrell, Willie Reed, and Sam Dekker.
Wilson played well in his 11 minutes, stepping out to hit an outside shot and throwing down a mean slam to finish with five points in his Clippers’ preseason debut. The forward made a beautiful cut and was rewarded with a Williams’ bounce pass that Wilson took to the rack with authority:

Wilson can only spend a total of 45 days on the Clippers’ official NBA roster since he is signed to a two-way contract so it remains to be seen how Rivers will use the forward. The team could bring up Wilson from the G-League when he’s in the middle of a hot streak and play him randomly throughout the season or they could wait towards the end of the season and use Wilson to fortify their bench for a late-season playoff push. Nevertheless, it seems like Wilson has earned the trust of Doc Rivers and the forward could play some meaningful minutes for the Clips off the bench at some point in the season.
