LaVar Ball always seems to take Twitter by storm with his “hot takes” on his son Lonzo Ball. His new comments seemed to have fired up LA Clippers’ guard, Patrick Beverley.

There is no denying that Lonzo Ball will be a good rookie. But all the hype around the rookie Point Guard – and his annoying father—can rub people the wrong way. Whenever LaVar makes bold, off-the-wall statements about his sons or even himself, people and players can’t wait to see him proved wrong.

So when he said the following, I’m sure players started marking their calendars for when they got their chance to lock the rookie down.

Really? LaVar is already saying Lonzo can take on Steph Curry. Let’s pump the brakes a little bit. He has to get through some other guards first, especially in the talent heavy Western Conference. Patrick Beverley looks excited to be the first to take on not just Lonzo, but his dad’s mouth as well.

This goes without saying, but Curry is obviously the more gifted player out of the two (Beverley and Curry). Don’t expect that to stop Beverley though. He only knows one way to play and that’s full-speed ahead. This is one of the many reasons he received All-Defensive First Team last season. Beverley will be a very strong litmus test for Lonzo in his first official NBA.

The season cannot start soon enough. Hopefully on October 19, the LA Clippers can come away with a win against the cross town rivals, the Lakers and in the process, Patrick Beverley can make LaVar eat some of his words.
