The 2000-2001 Los Angeles Clippers

While the Clippers’ franchise was still struggling at the time and the team’s record wasn’t the greatest (39-43), the 2000-2001 Clippers were an incredibly fun team that would fit into a video game perfectly. With young players like Elton Brand, Lamar Odom, Quentin Richardson, Corey Maggette, and Miles on the roster, the 00′-01′ Clippers were a team that played like they were actually in a video game instead of playing at the Staples Center. Brand was a reliable beast on both ends of the floor, Miles and Maggette could throw down monster jams on any given day, Odom was capable of running the floor like a guard and finishing like a forward at the rim, and Richardson routinely shot the lights out from three. I mean come on, the team may not have been good, but they were cool. They had their own signature taunt, appeared on one of the slickest SLAM Magazine covers, and produced one of the sickest alley-oops in league history.

While most of the teams that 2k features on its historic teams’ list were marquee teams that made the playoffs and or had NBA legends, the swagger and entertainment that the 2000-2001 Clippers brought to the floor should earn them a historic team spot in the next 2k game.
