Tuesday, LA Clippers forward Sam Dekker shared an image of some Clippers-themed colorways of the Kyrie 3, given to him by Nike. But is there more to the image than meets the eye?

Sam Dekker has never been shy when it comes to giving hints. His occasionally cryptic tweets have proven this to us. So when Dekker shared an image of some custom Kyrie 3’s on Tuesday, some people got to wondering.

The first thing that jumps out at me about the shoes are the color schemes. The white pair matches up with the new “Association” Clippers jersey, and the blue pair matches the “Icon” jersey. The mysterious black pair then comes into question. Is it just a coincidence that they appear to resemble the color scheme of the fan-favorite black Clipper jerseys that debuted two seasons ago?

The Clippers do still have two jerseys to announce. The first, the “Statement Edition” will be unveiled in the following weeks. There is no timetable for the other.

However, the hints don’t stop there. If you’ll notice, the blue color on the tongue of the white pair doesn’t exactly match up with the hue on the blue pair. The tongue color is a much lighter blue, and curiously enough, is almost identical to the color that NBA 2K18 appears to be using for the jerseys.

Could this mean that the light blue is correct on the jerseys? Do you think the black jerseys will be making a return? Let us know your thoughts on Dekker’s post, and stay tuned for more coverage!
