NBA 2k18 releases next week worldwide and those who pre-ordered the game will have access on Friday. So, for those of you playing MyGM, what move should be your first when managing the LA Clippers?

It’s almost time for NBA 2k18. We’ve already given you tips on how to start up your MyCareer and have shown you what the LA Clippers’ overall ratings will be to start the year, so now there’s only one big thing left: MyGM.

If you want to prove that you can manage a team better than Doc Rivers, (which, let’s be honest, you definitely can) then this is the mode for you. MyGM allows you to take over the front office and manage everything from your superstars to the G-League, view analytics and even design jerseys or relocate the team. But, what should your first move be with the LA Clippers once you start up the mode?

The Big Move

Trade DeAndre Jordan. Now, remember, this is just for NBA 2k18 and not real life. For 2k purposes, this move makes complete sense. DJ is an amazing player coming off his first All-Star selection, but in 2k, he is replaceable.

DJ can most likely net you a couple of solid pieces, or possibly even another superstar who is more video game friendly. 2k Blake can make up for the rebounding and whatever center you plug in during his absence will most likely be serviceable. (Don’t forget, Andrew Bogut will be a free agent in the game.) You may not throw as many lobs or get as many putback dunks, but it’s not something that will be sorely missed.

Trading DJ makes your cap situation a little better going forward as well. He will be a free agent after the season, so you won’t need to worry about handing him a big max contract. It just makes the most sense. After DJ is gone and you have a deep team in place, you should have no problems taking your LA Clippers to the NBA Finals.
