Kyrie Irving stunned the league this offseason when reports surfaced that he wanted a trade from the Cavaliers so he could lead his own team. Now, he could want to play with the LA Clippers.

While guesting on the HoopsHype podcast, Peter Vecsey told Alex Kennedy that he was told that Kyrie Irving wanted to play for the LA Clippers.

Here is the excerpt from the podcast where Vecsey brings up Irving and the Clippers.

"“I’m told [Kyrie] wants to play for the Clippers. […] That’s the team I was told he was to play.“He loves L.A. He’s been working out a lot there this summer.“Do they have the assets they get him? I don’t see how. But they also have Jerry West and he’s been able to figure out before.”In case you are interested in listening, here is the full HoopsHype podcast, the Irving-Clippers discussion starts around 1:13:23.While this news may be exciting to some Clippers fans, take Vecsey’s comments with a grain of salt. The journalist doesn’t have the greatest reputation among NBA players, once being called a “scumbag” by Charles Barkley.Vecsey was once booted from an NBA-sanctioned studio show by David Stern, who said this about Vecsey:“He had very good relationships and very good sources – he used to drive our general managers crazy because he was up on things that nobody else had information about,” Stern said. “We’ve had some pretty interesting shouting matches because there were times his instincts were not as great as he thought they were, and he had a story ass-backwards, but I actually came grudgingly to accept his basketball nose for picking up interesting stories.”Whether Vecsey’s sources are accurate or not, he’s right when he says that the Clippers probably don’t have the assets that it would take for the team to acquire Irving in a trade. For more information on what a potential Clippers-Cavs Irving trade would look like, check out this article from earlier this summer when the rumors first started up.This is the second big news story to come out today, after the team revealed their new Nike uniforms. It looks like between now and the start of the season on October 19th we can expect to see a lot of news coming out of Los Angeles, so stay tuned. Published on 08/11/2017 at 11:55 AM PDTLast updated on 08/11/2017 at 11:55 AM PDT “I’m told [Kyrie] wants to play for the Clippers.
