In a recent interview with ESPN’s Marc Spears, head coach Doc Rivers stated his belief that the LA Clippers are not taking a step back. Rather, he believes they added talent. I agree with him.

Before you light your torches and sharpen your pitchforks, please hear me out. Yes, we lost Chris Paul, who is arguably the greatest player in franchise history. We all know there is no replacing the so-called “Point God”. It was him who led us over the Spurs in the now famous playoff series. Him who brought the “Lob City” nickname to LA, and him who orchestrated it all. Him who showed fierce determination and exemplified willpower more than anyone else on the court. There is no replacing Chris Paul.  But I’m serious – we got a lot better. For a lot of reasons. But before we get into the “why”, we need to first get into the “what”, which begins with the signing of Jerry West.
