Woj: Milos Teodosic Agrees to Two Year Deal with LA Clippers
By Noah Shatzer
The European sensation will be making his long-awaited NBA as the starting point guard of the LA Clippers on a two-year deal.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports Serbian point guard Milos Teodosic has agreed to a two-year, $12.3 million deal with the LA Clippers that includes a player option for the second year.
Bill Oram, a Clippers reporter, confirmed the Teodosic signing and added that the Serbian is coming over to the team to be the starting point guard.
Teodosic is an amazing acquisition for the Clippers, even though most casual fans have probably never heard of him before. The 30-year-old Euroleague veteran is heralded as one of the best passers in Europe and his ball handling and court vision should transcribe to the NBA seamlessly.
Teodosic is a Euroleague veteran that has been playing at the highest level of basketball outside the NBA for most of his career over in Europe. In his last season with CSKA Moscow, the guard averaged 16.8 points, 6.8 assists and 2.1 rebounds per game, helping the team reach the Final Four. Teodosic is a career 44 percent shooting from the floor and 38.5 percent shooter from three. His game is very reminiscent to Ricky Rubio’s’ except Teodosic is a better shooter than Rubio but a poorer defender.
If Teodosic is going to be the starting point guard as reported, that would either move Patrick Beverley to the bench or to the shooting guard spot, which would mean Austin Rivers would return to the bench. While it is hard to speculate which move Doc Rivers will make, moving Rivers, who is best when he has the ball in his hand and can work his dribble, to the bench would make the most sense. Either way, Teodosic’s defense may take a while to catch up to the NBA game so pairing him next to Rivers or Beverley with DeAndre Jordan backing him up in the paint should help ease him along.
If you’re not already excited about the Clippers’ signing of Teodosic, watch this compilation of his passes and imagine the possibilities.
