The LA Clippers could be acquiring the type of small forward they’ve sought after for seasons via a three-team sign and trade deal with Atlanta and Denver.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the LA Clippers, Denver Nuggets, and Atlanta Hawks are working out the details of a three-team deal that would bring Danilo Gallinari to the Clippers.
The deal would bring Gallinari to LA while sending out Jamal Crawford, Diamond Stone, and the 2018 Houston first-round pick to the Hawks in exchange for taking on Crawford and Stone’s contracts. While the trade details are still being ironed out, Gallinari would be reportedly joining the Clippers on a three-year, $65 million deal and would provide the team with the versatile small forward that they’ve been searching for the past few seasons.
Wojnarowski added that the LA Clippers sold Gallo on the idea of a front court where he is paired next to Griffin and Jordan and that the small forward was already keen on living in LA.
The trade could end up being a three-team sign and trade deal, an uncommon occurrence, with Millsap being sign and traded to the Nuggets, Gallo sign and traded to the Clips, and then the Hawks receiving assets in return.
