After news broke that the Rockets and LA Clippers have agreed on a trade for Chris Paul, CP3 took to Twitter to thank Los Angeles fans.

Today, the NBA world was shocked. The Chris Paul era is over for the LA Clippers. The Clippers and Houston Rockets have agreed on a deal that will send The Point God to Houston in exchange for Patrick Beverly, Lou Williams, Montrez Harrell, Sam Dekker, a 2018 protected 1st round pick and a few non-guaranteed contracts.

After the announcement, CP3 took to Twitter to thank the fans and people of Los Angeles.

As he mentions, Paul has been a member of the Clippers for 6 seasons after coming over in a trade. CP3 helped to change the Clippers’ culture, bringing them from a bottom rung team to an annual contender. CP3 was heavily involved in the Los Angeles community and will most likely still have an impact here. He still makes appearances and has a hand in his outreach ventures in New Orleans, where he started his career.

Chris left on good terms with the team after helping them negotiate a trade to the Rockets. CP3 had the option to just leave in free agency, but was able to give the Clips one last assist on his way out.

The news leaves Clippers’ fans in anticipation on what moves the team will now make. The biggest question mark remaining is what Blake Griffin will decide to do.
