Draft: LA Clippers Sign Undrafted Free Agent Isaiah Hicks
By Noah Shatzer
Isaiah Hicks of UNC is expected to sign with the LA Clippers after going undrafted in the 2017 NBA Draft.
Per David Aldridge (even though he announced Hicks as a guard instead of a forward/center), 6’8 power forward/center Isaiah Hicks is signing with the Los Angeles Clippers after not being picked in the 2017 NBA Draft. Hicks averaged 11.6 PTS and 5.4 RBS while shooting around 57 percent from the floor during his senior season at UNC.
Hicks was a key player on the UNC team that won last year’s NCAA Tournament along with the prior team that was runner-up and will be reunited with his former UNC teammate Brice Johnson, who the Clippers drafted in the first round of the 2016 NBA Draft. The terms of the contract have yet to be announced but it would be safe to assume it will be some form of non-guaranteed contract.
This capped off the night for the LA Clippers who bought there way into the draft, acquiring picks 39 and 48. The team selected Jawun Evans and Sindarius Thornwell with the two picks. Those two, along with Hicks are expected to play for the Clippers’ Summer League team. Summer League begins on July 7th.
