The LA Clippers’ Austin Rivers called out “Big Baby” Glen Davis for comments made about the team and his time there.
The LA Clippers’ guard Austin Rivers has come to the defense of his father and made clear he worked for everything he has received since being traded to the Clippers. The Clipper guard appeared on Undisputed and shared his take on Glen “Big Baby” Davis‘ comments, his father Doc Rivers and his time with the team.
Big Baby is becoming often critical of Doc Rivers since his departure from the Clippers. He even called his former coach “lucky as hell” to have won a ring. He appeared on In the Zone with Chris Broussard and talked poorly about Doc. This wasn’t the only time Davis trashed his former team.
Austin Rivers spoke candidly, seemingly wanting to make sure people understand his side. Rivers even references Davis being out of shape and not knowing the plays as part of the problem.
He stated he didn’t understand why Big Baby would say the things he said especially about how his playing time correlated to his relationship with his father. He goes in-depth about the hard work its taken and that he was able to work together at a high level. Rivers brings up his relationship with his dad and that is very different from what people might think.
Austin Rivers rightly mentions his development and how he continues to work to become a better all around player. Rivers numbers improve more with each passing year, and he is beginning to play a bigger role with the team. He also posted a career year in points, rebounds, assists, three-point percentage among others.
Big Baby and Doc Rivers relationship
It is very interesting for a former player to continue to speak badly about his previous coach, after speaking so highly of him when they were together. A bitter break up must have ensured between the reserve and his least favorite coach.
It’s important to remember that Big Baby did play for Doc’s Championship 08′ team. So, they have a relationship prior to even playing with the Clippers. Doc and Big Baby have clashed at times but never to the point where Big Baby would come out and just trash his coach.
There is a pretty good chance Big Baby does respond to Austin Rivers comments but it seems like Rivers pretty much closed the lid on this topic.
Editor’s Note: It looks like Big Baby has responded. Get your popcorn ready, we could be in for a good old fashion feud.
Austin must have hurt Big Baby pretty badly. To say he was only “a little” overweight is definitely the understatement of the year.
Davis also reminded me of that teacher from That’s So Raven the way he was spitting every other word.
