Go-To Scorer.

Outside of Blake Griffin and Chris Paul, the Clippers don’t really have a go-to scorer. Sure, you could make the argument for Jamal Crawford, but he is getting less efficient by the day. Both BG and CP3 can score pretty much whenever they want, but they shoulder so much already that adding Melo would be a welcomed relief. Blake wouldn’t have to force shots and Chris wouldn’t have to be so aggressive looking for his shots, because that’s what Carmelo does, he is a scorer.

The age old argument, “There is only one ball, how will everyone get their shots?” isn’t as big of a deal as it seems. Melo tends to take fewer shots and becomes more efficient when he has better teammates. In his time with the 2012 Olympic team Carmelo scored over 16 ppg, while shooting 57% from the field and 50% from deep, in just 18 minutes per game! So, the better his teammates are the more efficient he becomes.
