Speculation: The LA Clippers should consider Kyle Lowry if Chris Paul leaves
By Tushar Bahl
Toronto Raptors point-guard Kyle Lowry has decided that he will opt out of his contract and become an unrestricted free agent. Here’s why the LA Clippers should look at him if Chris Paul walks out.
Kyle Lowry enjoyed a strong season with the Toronto Raptors before LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers swept his side 4-0 in the Eastern Conference semifinals. And while he sat out two of those games, the 31-year old averaged a career best 22.4 points and 7.0 assists this season. Now, he has decided to opt out of his deal with the Raptors and become a free agent. He could be a contender for the LA Clippers to replace Chris Paul if he decides to end his six year stay with the franchise.
The three time All-Star has emerged as a dominating point guard over the last couple of years. Lowry is in his prime right now and will feel that this is his one last chance to win the elusive NBA title.
"“A ring. Nothing else. I just want a ring,"
Lowry said on Monday when asked about what he wants the most.
Lowry is an ambitious player and on the off-chance that Chris Paul leaves the Clippers, he could be an option for them. When you compare their stats for the season, Paul comfortably comes out on top. But Lowry is not too far behind and playing with a star-studded Clippers team will definitely make him better. There have been rumors across the league that Lowry will look to move out west if he does switch teams.
Both the LA Clippers and Kyle Lowry want the same thing: An NBA Championship. And while they could achieve that together, the Clippers will not want their Point God to leave the franchise anytime soon. Check back here at Clipperholics for all free agency news and rumors regarding your LA Clippers!
