Number 2: Jordan Super.Fly 4

Mark this down as one of the best commercials of all-time. Featuring Marvin the Martian, Bugs Bunny, Blake Griffin, and the return of Darrell “Dr.” Drain, it perfectly combined humor with an amazing product. It reminded us all of the old sneaker commercials with Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson and Larry Bird. All it said was “if you wear this shoe, you’ll have superpowers”. And while that was a blatant lie, you know there were kids out there who wanted this shoe just to see if they could jump to the moon.

Only one thing was more genius than the marketing campaign for this shoe, and that’s the actual shoe itself.

The Jordan Super.Fly 4 was everything the 3 was – just better. The upper was heavily padded and supportive, as opposed to the somewhat flimsy upper of the 3. The traction pattern was stronger and grittier. The materials felt nicer. The fit was less sloppy. And most importantly, it was equally priced. The only real downside of the shoe was the appearance – although it got notably better after the initial colorways went away and the less bold ones hit the shelves.

Unfortunately we saw almost no Blake on court that year for the LA Clippers, as his season was shortened to just 35 games by his quad injury. Still, the shoe’s insane performance is enough to give it our #2 position.
