Recently, @lethalshooter has been commenting on @lucmbahamoute’s posts on Instagram. What has he told Luc and what does it mean?
Chris Matthews, also known as “Lethal Shooter” played college ball at Washington State University and St. Bonaventure University in New York. Despite being one of 18 players in the nation to have 100 three-pointers or more during his senior year at St. Bonaventure in 2010, he went undrafted for the NBA. He spent the 2011-2012 D-leauge season on the Reno Bighorns (the Sacramento Kings D-league team), however he was never brought up into any NBA teams. Since then Chris Matthews has proved his passion for sports and the youth of Washington DC by running basketball camps locally. He has also worked with NBA players and anyone with the wish to improve their shooting ability.
Now that you know who Lethal Shooter is, what exactly was his intriguing comment on Luc Mbah a Moute’s post and what does it mean?
"On April 21st @lethalshooter commented “do your thing bro… see you this summer”."
We can assume with reason that this means that they will be training together in the offseason, working on Luc’s already-improved jumpshot. In the 2015-2016 Clippers season, Luc shot 32.5% from three-point range. His 2016-2017 three-point percentage was 39.1; a dramatic improvement. Luc has also doubled his points per game from the 2015-2016 season to the recently finished 2016-2017 Clippers season from three to six.
Luc’s shooting stats are not the only thing that has showcased his improvement and value to this team. This season, he was recognized around the league as a great defender. Luc also looks more and more comfortable with the Clippers’ offensive scheme each game, moving the ball around effectively and taking smart shots.
Luc Mbah a Moute is set to make 2.3 million dollars next season as a Clipper, however he does have a player option this summer, meaning he can stay with his current team or choose to become an unrestricted free agent. Working with “Lethal Shooter” Chris Matthews in the offseason will certainly improve Luc’s offensive game, and we hope that he chooses to come back as a Clipper for the 2017-2018 NBA season to showcase his improved offensive ability once again. Doc Rivers is most likely in favor of him returning as well.
