We’ve seen that with the LA Clippers that Chris Paul drops dimes better than anyone else in the league. But is he also the best at dropping hints?

Any NBA fan that follows social media surely knows that players will, on occasion, leave cryptic hints about the future of their careers. It could be something as minuscule as tweeting an emoji, changing a profile picture, or following a string of players from a different team. It’s especially prevalent in the time leading up to free agency and/or the trade deadline. So when the LA Clippers star point guard Chris Paul suspiciously swapped his Facebook cover photo from a picture of him in uniform to one of him in a suit, you can bet people got worried. He did the same on his Twitter page as well. It’s also worth noting that Paul’s previous 3 cover photos were of him in his Clippers gear. You can see the new photo and the old photo below, courtesy of his Facebook page.

We all remember CP3’s now famous “Banana Boat” tweet about LA’s pursuit to re-sign DeAndre Jordan, seen below:

Even old man Pierce got involved, tweeting a picture of a rocket emoji:

Although it’s probably too early to make any definitive claims, it’s not wrong for us to worry. Sometimes subtle hints like these can turn into major headlines, and can be the beginning of a new future for a player.

The most likely scenario still seems to be the one in which Paul re-signs with the LA Clippers on a max deal this summer. However, there has been some speculation that he signs elsewhere, perhaps in San Antonio. Paul desperately wants a ring, and he might be best suited to earn one under the advisement of Coach Popovich and playing alongside Kawhi Leonard.

What do you think, Clipper Nation? Is this just a ruse to create a distraction? Or is this the first sign that Paul will be departing this summer? Share your thoughts below!
