Turn it Around.

At first glance, Wesley Johnson seems like a perfect fit at small forward. He is athletic, sometimes a streaky shooter and can finish at the rim. However, when taking a closer look, Johnson shows he has been exposed as an average all-around ball player. Early on this season, the small forward starting role was up in the air, but it is safe to say that belongs to Luc Mbah a Moute now. On the other hand Johnson provides a solid backup with his offense to Luc’s elite defense. However, we have yet to witness that all season.  With Johnson not hitting shots there is not really a reason to play him over Luc.

He does show signs of exploding offense on rare occasions. If Wesley can hit his wide open threes and finish at the rim, then he has done his part. His ability to catch and shoot, especially at the corner three, and finishing at the rim, will allow him to contribute in the little minutes he is out on the floor.

During the playoffs, starters and a few role players get most of the minutes  since rotations are cut short. However, Wesley Johnson will get his opportunities, he needs to stay ready and knock down open shots. Who knows, if he has an efficient and productive night, he can get more minutes or have an impact for at least one game.
