The LA Clippers clinched home-court advantage Wednesday night, but a little piece of history was made as J.J. Redick set the franchise record & his personal record for most three-pointers made in a single season.

The final buzzer sounded, and fans throughout Staples Center stood on their feet and applauded. The LA Clippers not only won the game, but clinched home-court advantage for their first round match-up with the Utah Jazz. Overall, it was a great game by everyone. The starters looked good, the bench looked good, and they looked ready for playoff basketball. Lost in the commotion, a franchise record was broken.

With 5:16 left in the third quarter, J.J. Redick knocked down a three pointer, stretching the Clippers’ lead to 11. With that shot, J.J. made his 201st three on the year, this was Redick’s personal best. It was also enough to set the franchise record for most three’s in a season.

Surpassing his own record

He passed a familiar face for the record…. himself.

Redick owned the record, which was set by him the last two seasons at 200. He came into the night with 198, so he needed that third one to go down to reach the milestone.

When spoken to after the game, Redick discussed how these are the four best seasons he’s had in his career. That’s an understatement to say the least. He’s knocked down 674 three’s in his four seasons in LA (601 in the last three seasons). Prior to coming to Los Angeles, his career high was 165, and had only surpassed 100 four times in his first seven seasons. He’s surpassed 200 in his last three.

Fair to say, he’s found his home. On the season, Redick averaged 15 points, while shooting 45%, 43% from deep, and 89% from the line.

Trailing Eric Piatkowski by 64 three’s for the most in franchise history, it’s safe to say J.J. will own that record as well next season…. assuming he stays.

Regardless of what he does this summer, congrats to J.J. on another stellar year, and on breaking the franchise record, and setting a career high.
