Injury Update: Austin Rivers Hopeful for Playoffs
By Blake Harris
Austin Rivers, who suffered a hamstring injury Wednesday in the LA Clippers’ game versus the Wizards, looks to be ready in time for the playoffs.
It appears as if Austin Rivers‘ season has some to an end. However, it appears as if he will be ready come postseason time. Rivers, who is having the best season of his career, suffered a strained left-hamstring against the Wizards.
Rivers is currently averaging 12 points to go along with three assists and two rebounds per game, all of which are career highs. He’s also playing 28 minutes per game, while shooting 44% from the field, including 37% from deep, all of which are career highs as well.
Austin isn’t just “The Coach’s Son” anymore. He has developed into a key piece off of the Clippers’ bench, and is one of the best defenders on the team.
The spotlight also is something Rivers doesn’t shy away from, as he has had a number of remarkable postseason games in his early NBA career. Most notably last year in game six in Portland, when we went for 21 points, to go along with 8 assists and 6 rebounds, all while only being able to see out of one eye. And how can you forget his 25 point outburst in game 3 of the semi-finals in 2015 against the Rockets.
It’s easy to see Rivers shines come April, and his health will be crucial if the Clippers have any legitimate shot of making a deep playoff push.
