Branden Dawson improving

“I just kept telling myself I’ve bene here before, I’ve been in this position. Just come out and whatever happens, just play hard.” Dawson said after game one in Orlando.

The 2015 56th pick really did play like he had been there before. He led all Clippers’ scorers in the first and final game. He racked up 14 points in 17 minutes during game one. Game three versus the Knicks was a solid outing.

“[Dawson} continued his solid summer run, snatching seven rebounds, dropping a pair of clever dimes and calmly sticking a pull-up jumper.” Bleacher Report wrote after game three.

Then Dawson scored 18 points versus the Knicks in the Clippers’ summer league finale. He averaged 10 points and 6.6 rebounds per game, despite only starting two of the five games.

Last season, Dawson started off the summer league banged up. He also bounced between the Clippers’ regular season roster and the D-League.

In year two, it seems like Dawson is coming into his own. The Clippers need help at the forward position, and Dawson could find himself in the mix if he keeps progressing. He’ll find himself competing with Johnson and others for time.
