2014-15 Awards

Individual Awards

Most Valuable Player – Kevin Durant (OKC)
Rookie of the Year – Jabari Parker (MIL)
Sixth Man of the Year – Reggie Jackson (OKC)
Defensive Player of the Year – Dwight Howard (HOU)
Most Improved Player – Wesley Matthews (POR)
Coach of the Year – David Blatt

Thoughts: Of the six awards given out, only one stands as a surprise and that’s Wesley Matthews winning most improved. Is he capable of it? Of course. Last season, Matthews improved, averaging 16.4 points on 44/39/83 percent shooting. The issue here is him adding on to that with Damian Lillard improving and LaMarcus Aldridge still commanding a large portion of the offense. Seems unlikely if anything.

Thoughts: I’d be plain shocked if Derrick Rose was named All-NBA second team. Then again, I said this before he won his MVP, so I wouldn’t put it past him or whomever votes for these selections.

Thoughts: Without thinking, I accidentally left Joel Embiid active, but considering the 76ers need all the help they could get (only won 17 games), I don’t mind it.

F – Andrew Wiggins (MIN)
F – Kostas Papanikolaou (HOU)
F – Jarnell Stokes (MEM)

Thoughts: Andrew Wiggins finishing All-Rookie 2nd team would be nothing short of a disappointment in real life.
