Yesterday one-time NBA champion and NBA Finals MVP Chauncey Billups announced his retirement from the NBA after 17 years in the league.
“ The game was very, very good to me.” – Billups on retirement
While he’s known for the glory days in Detroit, Billups’ last rodeo came as a member of the Los Angeles Clippers, brought along after being amnestied by the New York Knicks following the NBA lockout in 2011.
Despite averaging 11.5 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game as a member of the Clippers, Billups’ tenure didn’t turn out as many expected due to injuries (Billups played in 44 regular season games out of a possible 148 games due to an achilles tear+), but, when healthy, there were moments where Billups’ presence was made known, so in honor of the retiree, we at Fully Clips have pieced together Billups’ top-5 on-the-court moments as a Clipper which includes him living up to his nickname and this team debut.
