Los Angeles Clippers: Good Start to Road Trip

facebooktwitterreddit

The Los Angeles Clippers are 2-1 in their last three games. The first of those three games was a forgettable one. The Clippers suffered a thrashing by the Denver Nuggets, losing 112-91. The Clippers started the game hot leading 32-19. It was looking like the Clips were going to add on to their winning streak, but the Nuggets had second thoughts. In the second and third quarters the Clippers were looking sluggish. They were outscored 35-19 in the second and 32-16 in the third quarter. There was no point to play the fourth quarter, looked like the Clips had thrown in the towel. They could not get into a rhythm, which does happen to teams from time to time. The worst aspect of the lost was it happened in front the Clippers home fans. Hopefully the Clippers fans will not witness that kind of monsterosity for the rest of the season. But the Clips did bounce back winning their next two games.

Clippers Vs Wizards

What better team to play when starting a road trip and to get the lost from the Nuggets out of your system than the Washington Wizards. The Clips came into the Verizon Center and gave the Wizards a butt whopping. It was not a surprise since they are one of the worst teams in the NBA. For the exception of JaVale McGee, the Wizards are a horrible defensive team and against a great offensive team it was going to mean trouble. You know it’s bad when every Clipper scored in the game, leading to a 107-81 victory.

It was a great warm up game for the Clippers as they get ready for this 6 game road trip, the first of two this season. This road trip is going to solidly the Clippers status in the NBA. The Clippers were notoriously bad on the road last season, thus far this season they have been much better. They will have to continue playing well on the road if they expect to earn a high seed in the playoffs.

Clippers Vs Magic

The Orlando Magic was a good test for the Clippers on their road trip. Even though the Magic have been a bit dysfunctional this season, they are still a dangerous team with many offensive threats. The Clippers started the game slow as they found themselves down by 15 points in the first half. They would battle back and make the game close on the fourth quarter.
Once again the Clippers were lead by PG Chris Paul. Chris was doing what he does in the fourth quarter, which is score big buckets. The Clips had their chance to end the game in regulation when PF Blake Griffin was fouled on a fast break but made one of two field goals to tie the game at 94 apiece.

In overtime it was that man again. Chris would continue to take over and lead the Clippers to a 107-102 road win. He led the Clippers with 29 points with 8 assists. Without Chris the Clippers would be a mediocre team that no one talks about. He is without a doubt a top three point guard in the NBA, if not the best. Blake might be the most exciting player on the roster but Chris is the glue that keeps the Clips together. In other words, he is the most valuable player on the team.

For those that are not keeping count, the Clips are 2-0 in their current road trip. The win against the Magic did come with a big price. PG/SG Chauncey Billups appeared to have hurt his ankle, but reports later would indicate a possible Achilles heel injury. Meaning he could be gone for the season. I’m hoping for the best. Get well soon Chauncey. Go Clips!!!!!!!!!!
