Clippers’ owner Steve Ballmer has reportedly had multiple talks about bringing the LA Clippers to Inglewood, following both the Rams and Chargers.

The Clippers could move. Well, sort of. According to Nathan Fenno and Sam Farmer of the LA Times, Clippers’ owner Steve Ballmer has discussed moving the team to Inglewood. He has reportedly had multiple discussions with Stan Kroenke, the owner of the Los Angeles Rams.

Kroenke is in the midst of building a “sports district” in Inglewood. This district so far will house the Rams and Chargers. Adding Ballmer to the mix would mean a basketball arena would also be built in the district.

"The arena could either be on the 298-acre site or an adjacent parcel. Either way, an arena would drive traffic to the planned mixed-use development and share parking with the $2.6-billion football stadium scheduled to open in 2019."

This would be a huge undertaking for the Clippers, who currently rent space in the Staples Center with the Lakers and Kings of the NHL. It had been reported in the past that the team was looking to leave the Staples Center once their lease ends in 2024. This opportunity would be something great for Steve Ballmer to jump at.

He has been nothing but great since he took over for Donald Sterling. Despite catching some flack for the team’s redesign, Steve Ballmer has been nothing short of great.

This new arena would give him an opportunity to craft something special for fans as he noted:

"“We don’t own our arena, so a lot of things about fan experience — food and beverage — they’re not on our list because, frankly, we get what we get from AEG, who owns Staples Center,” Ballmer said."

Don’t expect a decision to be made any time soon, especially since the Clips’ look to be in Staples for 7 more years until their lease ends.
