2. Will Paul George show up for the LA Clippers?

Paul George probably has more to prove this season than any player not just on the LA Clippers but in the entire league. A lot of focus (whether just or not) was put on his playoff performance in the bubble.

George understands that he did not play well overall and has addressed his shortcomings. Granted, some of that he put on Doc Rivers and his play calling/rotations but he did admit that he could have been better.

After talking all that talk over the past few weeks, what better way to start backing it up than having a big outing on opening night versus his team’s rival?

Kawhi Leonard will likely get the majority of the focus from the Lakers’ defense, leaving PG some more freedom. He also has the advantage of playing alongside Serge Ibaka who spaces the floor much better than Ivica Zubac does.

If Ibaka can float more towards the three point line, George can attack the rim with more freedom. Granted, two great defenders in Marc Gasol or Anthony Davis may be down there waiting on him but PG does have the ability to finish with contact. If he comes out playing aggressively, he could get one or both in foul trouble which would obviously be huge for the Clippers.

A big game out of him would be great but honestly, Clipper Nation should just be happy if he puts up 20+ points and doesn’t get down on himself if his shots aren’t falling.

George’s extension last week shows that the team believes in him but he still needs to go out and perform so the fans can get back on his side.
