Despite locking in a superstar talent for the next year, there are several reasons the LA Clippers should not trade for Anthony Davis.

After meeting with General Manager David Griffin, Anthony Davis again informed the New Orleans Pelicans that he would like to be traded. Included in his list of preferred destinations were the LA Clippers, who will be in the market for a star this summer.

Davis is a one of a kind type of player capable of changing the game on both ends of the court. For his career, AD has been a stat sheet stuffer putting up 23.7 points on 51.7% shooting, 10.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.4 steals and 2.4 blocks. In short, the man is a baller.

AD is a true superstar, which is something the LA Clippers are absolutely in need of. The team proved themselves to have a solid core, reaching the playoffs as the eighth seed in a tough Western Conference, but their postseason was short lived. Matched up against the defending champion Golden State Warriors, the Clippers lack of a superstar became more pronounced then it had during the regular season.

The team has not been secretive in their pursuit of Kawhi Leonard and to a lesser extent, Kevin Durant, this summer, but a trade for Davis would still be in the cards if they were to sign one of the two aforementioned players.

Pairing Davis with either player would arguably make the team an instant championship contender. Even getting him on his own might elevate the team above the eighth seed they achieved this season. But is it really worth it? Here are three reasons the LA Clippers should resist the urge to trade for AD.
